SOMPTING VILLAGE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

The “WI” plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.  There are around a hundred and twenty WIs in villages and towns in Sussex alone, all very different, some with a large membership and others smaller.  Activities include books and music, theatre, skittles, darts, scrabble, discussion groups, crafts and walking.

Sompting WI meets at Sompting Village Hall on the second Wednesday afternoon of each month.  The branch will celebrate its 90th anniversary on 11 November this year; formed on Armistice Day, the branch is Sompting Village Hall’s oldest user group, having held every meeting at the Hall.
