WORTHING & DISTRICT
EDWARDIAN CLUB
The club incorporates a charitable trust, registered charity no.
1001200. We meet at Sompting
Village Hall on the 2nd Wednesday evening in each month and are
seeking new members.
The Edwardians have for over 30 years raised money for local
charities by operating a concert party which rehearses at the Hall and travels
almost anywhere to provide shows for the elderly and disabled and takes paid
bookings from commercial ventures.
Charities to benefit from our efforts include Guide Dogs for the Blind,
Ferring Country Centre and St Barnabas Hospice/Chestnut Tree House. Apart from minimal expenses all monies
raised are distributed to local charities and needy individuals, totalling
around £120,000 over the last 30 years.
The Club has twice been honoured by Worthing Borough Council in
recognition of its charity work in the local community.
We appeared at Harewood Court, Hove in aid of little Jessica Cannons, who had cancer and heart problems. We raised over £300 for her, including a collection from a local church. We decided to buy a wheelchair to help her get around.
“We like what we do to help just a few.”
